Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is an American performer and actress. Parents were Tom Bell and Lorelei Frygier, both television news directors. She was raised and from Huntington Woods Michigan. Her family ancestry includes Polish (mother) and German, English, Irish as well as Scottish (father). Kristen developed a talent to perform on an early age on stage. She was able to land her first part in the auditions for Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell's mom introduced her to an agent when she was 13 and she was subsequently cast in television advertisements for newspapers and commercials. In addition, Bell started taking classes in acting privately. Bell had a minor role that was not credited to her in Polish Wedding (1998), in 1998. Bell attended Shrine Catholic High School, where she was a member of the drama and music club. Bell was chosen to play the lead role of Dorothy at her school's performance of The Wizard of Oz. Bell attended an institution called the Tisch School of the Arts which she attended to study Musical Theater within New York City. Bell left the university in 2001, and began taking on the character of Becky in the film Tom Sawyer. Her first film credit with Pootie Tang during 2001. Her scene, however, was trimmed and now her appearance only appears in the final credits. Bell was on Broadway in The Crucible, a revival that featured Liam Neeson with Angela Bettis.
